Know one knows more about Ruckstell's I believe than Glen Chaffin. He even wrote a book on the subject. The current article in the Vintage Ford is not needed, especially since the author couldn't get the mans name correct!

I have to agree Mr. Smith. Glen personally built mine almost 50 years ago. Still works flawless, and doesn't leak a drop.

All of my Ruxtell’s have almost all of Glen’s parts installed, and am quite happy with them. But mine do drip motor oil tho…?! Funny how T’s do that!

Since the newest Model t is 98 years old and this was volume 60 number one of the Vintage Ford, I think we can give them a break for repeating a subject.

I cannot find those statements to be untrue.

Is the issue with the spelling of Ruckstell's first name Glover as 'Grover'? FWIW, the VF article, pp 19-21 is the same as the information printed on pg 2 in the MTFCA Restoring the Ruckstell Axle Comprehensive Guide, copyright 2002 written by Glen Chaffin with contributions from Milton Webb, Fred Houston and Bruce McCalley and edited by Bruce McCalley.

That error in no way diminishes the value of the information in the restoration guide nor the immense contributions the authors of the original article have made and continue to make to the Model T community. Reprinting that information in the VF was a timely refresher of technical information and testimony to the creativity of those who made the Model T such a success.

Interestingly, this modern AI stuff that so many of us view with contempt, was able to see beyond that error and find a dozen or more articles on Mr Ruckstell that made for some interesting background reading. That error and Mr Smith's expressed concern provided me with an opportunity to learn some very useful things related to the Model T and the people who built it. Respectfully, jb
