Position of 1925 touring front right kick panel

Hi all,
I'm about to install the right front kick panel on my 25 touring. Does the panel fit against the outside of the metal floor lip, or behind it? The original seems to go against the outside, but it's in poor condition and I can't tell. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. John

What about the drivers side. How does it fit. If I’m not mistaken the card board kick panel would have a trim piece sewn on the bottom. And if it does the kick panel would go on the outside. Others would have a picture or opinion.
Here’s a picture of my 21 Touring to give you an idea. I’m not sure about the later open cars. What I know it seems like it would go on the outside since my Classtique Interior had the kick panels sewn this way.

The kick panel grained cardboard fits to the outside to the metal support strip. Original panel in my '24 touring.
The panel is now aged some.

Hi Dan!
Now I’m wondering if the earlier open cars like the 21 Touring I have had the kick panel like your later 25 does. It doesn’t matter to me since my car didn’t have any interior at all. It’s a built up Touring from as many of the correct parts I could find. Took me about 3 years to build it up.
If Classtique added it that’s fine by me. I do think it looks a little better but in reality Ford would may have not added any trim to save a little time and a few cents!
