Pulling my engine

The time has come to pull the vibrating engine out of my 24 touring and see what
Is wrong with it. Will it come out with the fire wall in. Philip

Yes. In a 1924 the ears should clear. You don't need to remove the steering column completely. Just pulling it back with the steering wheel on the seat should be OK. You'll need to tip the front of the engine up to lower the pedals so they clear the firewall.

I don’t think you leave anything attached as far a the steering column is concerned as I remember. I unbolted the column and pulled it up as far as I could get it on the front seat of my 21 Touring and pulled the engine.
I’ve done it both ways with the firewall out and with the firewall in.

I do as "the other" Steve does - remove the spark & throttle rods from the column, remove horn wires off the horn & terminal, remove the pitman arm, unbolt the lower steering bracket from the frame and the 4 bolts holding the column to the firewall, pull outward & lay the steering wheel on the seat.

I’ve no problem with the advice on the steering column, essentially remove. I undo the drag link connection rather than remove it from the column, but really of no importance difference.
Generally I undo the pedals inside the transmission so they “lay down “

You do not need to pull the steering column to remove the motor. I have done this during the last six months on a 1914 Touring, 1911 Touring, 1922 centerdoor, 1926 Touring and a 1914 Speedster each of which had later motors with starters. The trick is to remove the starter from the motor. Then with a hook in #4 plug move the motor a little forward. Next move the hook to #1 plug and lift the front of the motor. At this point you hopefully drained the oil 😊. Swing the now vertical motor around the steering column and the now horizontal pedals under the firewall. Now lift the motor nice and high and pull forward. It is easy with Lee Pierce’s sky hook.
Going back in is the same in reverse. 😊

What Tony said. Also helps to remove the brake and reverse pedals.
