It has to something easy

Post by Jwinters » Sat Jun 22, 2019 5:35 pm

Ok
New to model t
I had the coils rebuilt
I had the carb rebuilt
Cleaned the plugs
And it won’t start

Tried the cleaning of the timer
It is a new day timer
Could it be the key switch?

Also I’m trying to find a club near me
I’m between Philadelphia and Allentown in the eastern part of Pa
Any help I will try
Thanks

Do the coils buzz on battery?

They will if the timer is in the right position and the battery and wiring is ok. You could move the timer rod up and down and you might get them to buzz.

You need to hear each individual coil buzz as you slowly turn the engine over with the spark lever retarted for the engine to start. No buzz is a no go. Could be the switch is dirty if you don’t get a buzz. Turn the key quickly back and forth and see if you get a buzz. If you do the switch contacts are dirty or need adjusting.

The coils wouldn’t buzz at all
I am going back out to try the adjustments for the timer.
The timer isn’t new but it didn’t look like it had anything wrong with it
It hasn’t run in 27 years but that’s all going to change this week

Thanks for the club information
I will reach out to them this week

The 18 that lives here has kind of the same issue. Over the winter, the electrical's for the coils have gone languid.
Let us know. when you find out what. :)
