Buying or making a pin to secure fan crank shaft pulley

My pin fell out and is lost Looking in Snyders and MAcs I see the entire assembly for sale but not just the pin Am I blind or does someone see where I can buy just the pin? Another member suggest I fabricate a pin drilling a hole in it I need advice on finding a soft metal of the correct diameter He then suggests using a split pin to secure the fabricated bolt I assume I drill a hole down into the bolt face the length of the bolt to expand it and not through the bolt. Sorry for my ignorance I keep trying to learn from all of you This is a non starter car

This is not in great condition, but it shows how the pin goes. The pulley has a small hole on one side to drive out the pin with a drift, and a larger opposite hole for the pin to pass through. The end of the pin near the larger hole gets a cotter pin, not a roll pin, to keep it in.

I use a roll pin.
It eliminates the need for a cotter pin which is difficult to install and remove.

Prefer to use the solid Ford style pin in the crank pulley.

Once had trouble removing a rolled pin, guess the former owner stood on the crank handle at some point. The crank handle ratchet wouldn’t fit well, as that hollow roll pin bent. Sure was hard to get that bent piece of metal out the pulley holes :(

Must have been a Left Hand Metric Roll Pin :lol:

I have had good luck installing and removing the roll pin on mine.

A roll pin came with the after market machined crankshaft pulley I got some time back.

If your new pin isn't secure in the crank, you might wish to knurl the center of it so it will be snug in the crankshaft.
