Any Differences Between 1926 Running gear U. S. vs Canadian?

Other than the “made in Canada” markings, are there any Canada specific items on a ‘26 chassis that won’t interchange with a U. S. Part. I know the split rims were different, and I’m sure there’s loads of other things. Just wondering what I should be looking for. What all would have the “Made in Canada” marking? (Radiator shell, manifold, engine etc.) The chassis has wire wheels, no caps. Did those have “Made in Canada”? I’ve never seen one…..

I have never come across and difference in the running gear. Marked made in Canada or USA, it all still swaps.

Was Canada still making RHD 26 Ts for home use?

A minor dfference, of no consequence, is the fact that the frame rails were punched to take either left or right hand drive components. So the front of each rail has bolt holes for the lower steering bracket. Of interest is the rails are also punched to take the battery carrier on both sides, even though the battery was always on the left, out of the way of the exhaust. It is presumed that the rails were punched in the flat, prior to being formed into their finished U shape. Without me checking, there is likely a hole for the starter switch mounting bolt on each side also.

Although not relevant in your instance, the spokes for wooden wheels are different. Canadian spokes have an alternating taper which makes assembly easy without a press.

"Made In Canada" marking on parts not already mentioned that I have seen includes hub caps (wire and wood wheels), water inlet, running boards, generator, and starter.

You didn't ask but I will tell you other differences between Canadian and USA made Model T's includes the square drive Robertson head screws, tail light, horn button in center of steering wheel, front license plate bracket.

Some, or maybe all Canadian made 27's, and probably 26's, used a thinner radiator necessitating a longer shaft on the fan to get the fan close enough to the rad. I learned this the hard way when I bought a new rad from Brassworks for my 27 and when I went to install it the fan was against the core. I had to delay installation and order a new shaft for the fan. I guess the theory was probably that since Canada has a cooler climate Henry could save a buck or so on the rads produced here. Not ap[plicable here since this discussion is about chassis parts but I also learned the hard way, that the rear bottom seat cushion in my 27 touring was deeper, front to rear, than the US cars. This also meant that the rear seat riser was different, Did Canadian cusomers use the rear seat more? Maybe Henry spent the money he saved on the radiator by providing the larger seat.

Even the spider gears in the rear-end have made in Canada on them. At least 1922 Canadian has it.

The Made in Canada 1926 Model Ts had electric cowl lights.

That one has electric cowl lights. I have never seen another on any of our Canadian built cars here in Australia. Perhaps a particular Canadian province demanded them.

The Canadian diff crown wheel and pinion cannot be mixed with the USA ones. Same number of teeth but a difference in teeth pitch.

Again, not relevant in your case with wire wheels, but the wooden wheel front hubs on our TT are definitely Canadian...

Then there are the wire wheels, are they the same wheels for the 1926 USA and Canadian Ts?

I was told yesterday by a man that has a 1926 Canadian T that the tires he bought do not fit the wheels.

Plenty of USA Ts in Australia, same tyre size as our Canadian Ts.
