Magneto not working.......another thing to check!

Good friend had issue with a '24, found that when starting the motor with key on BAT, then with motor running and turning key to MAG, the motor would die.

So he began running the T on BATposition. But soon found out, by trying, that it would fire up and run, with ignition key position on MAG!

So how did that happen? Determined the red BAT wire to the ignition terminal on the combo switch had a fray or break in the insulation, and was touching the MAG terminal screw on the switch. Storage battery 6vDC was going each side of the key switch.

Fix was to remove that frayed red wire and taping it, and reattaching to be sure the wire was away from the MAG terminal screw.

And fortunate too, the key now works both BAT and MAG as normal, no magnet discharged as the magneto works fine, luckily no calamity in that regard.

Good reminder to check the wiring on the dash switch and care in placing all those packed wires on it. Ford Service Bulletin noted same.
