I was at the Branch 15 swap meet at Power Land down at Brooks Oregon this last weekend and got a generator voltage control device (AKA a cutout etc) While it is Model A Positive Ground how do I tell which type it is? The label reads;
10505 Model A Cut-Out
Set Generator to 5 Amps Max with Lights Off
Positive Ground only!
Fun Projects, Inc St Charles Il 200-105050
Nothing on the bottom. Fairly light in weight.

10505 is simply the original style cut-out, according to Fun Projects web site - 10505R would be the voltage regulator.

Ok so I went and looked at the web site. None of the current numbers match up with what I have. This one has the scripted cover. That leads to more confusion! :lol:
Looks like after doing some checking that it is/might be, a regulator. The photos I looked at ID'ed as such. There may be some changes to the Raloo-Rocket in the near future! ;)

I have both, a Fun Projects regulator & cut-out - I'll check out the bottoms to see if there is any difference OR John pops in here once in a while, perhaps he could identify it ?

My cut-out & v.r. are for a T - 6v neg. grd. - whether that makes a difference because of polarity or not, I'm assuming that's internal - my c.o. has one screw where yours has an empty hole & the very small "arrowhead" at the top near the mounting tab is not pushed open - the v.r has this little feature punched in and has 2 screws - one where yours is and one where yours is missing (the empty hole) - hope this might help.

And, it seems the cut-out is a bit lighter in weight than the v.r. BUT that could also be my imagination !

Appears to be the FP diode cutout. Given that it is polarity conscious, it is a diode type and not a mechanical type. Also, I recall the instructions from FP was to set the generator for no more than 5A, not because of the diode rating, but to prevent overcharging.
Incidentally, the vacant screw hole adjacent to the battery connection confirms it is not a voltage regulator.
