INNER TUBE SIZING

Need help on what tube will fit a 33x4 tire. I will purchase Brockley tubes if possible, however they do not have a tube made specifically for a 33x4. I e mailed them this question and received this answer ——To be honest, I do not know.
As we do not make a 33x4, we have not tested our tubes to see what is the best fit.
Kind Regards
Lee

So Brockley sell these two sizes, which I have converted to inches— 32.28x4.7 and 34.6x4.7 so which tube would fit a 33x4.

Or are we out of spec, and be dangerous?

Thanks Pete

I'm not an expert, but I believe that either one would be satisfactory. I would lean toward the 34.6 X 4.7. Most newer inner tubes I've encountered recently have a range of sizes marked on them. Given that, It looks to me like the 34.6 X 4.7 would be a very close match. The stem can be moved if necessary, or even replaced with one more suitable to your particular intsallation.

My Grampa's TT sports 32 x 4.5 rear tires & Universal has both rubber stem & brass stem tubes for that size - I'd be looking at those.

If there is a choice of sizes recommended for a given fitment, I would select the smaller variant. The tube will expand to fill the space in the tyre. A too large tube may end up creased, and this can lead to early failure. I have seen this when a 4.40 x 23" is fitted to a 30 x 3.5" tyre.

I recently purchased a 1909 Stoddard Dayton and there were 4 new 34x4 tires and tubes. Sadly the tubes are 33x4 and will not work with my tires. These are new tubes 33x4 never exposed to light. If someone could use these tubes I will sell them. I just ordered new 34x4 rubber stem tubes at $74.00 each.

I will sell the 33x4 metal stem tubes for $200.00 plus freight. These tubes are about 10 years old and just exposed to light about 4 days ago. Included with the tubes are 4 new repo brass stem covers. These are in the Seattle area.
