Parts for Rocky Mountain Brakes

Part of my rocky mtn brakes came off and vanished into the ether the other day. I don’t need a whole new set, but some of the parts that went missing on my country drive. Where can I get just some replacement parts?

This came with the brochure and installation instructions with my set, but I bought them several years, ago. Info, may or may not, be current:

The parts from Rocky Mountain Brake Co. in Temecula will work fine for the brakes he manufactures. Some of the older R.M. brakes are different, so if you need parts for them, you might need to check the swap meets.

Check with Chaffin's Garage - I believe they carry some replacement parts.

This part fell apart on my drivers side.

Your adjusting nut is upside down. The ridges keep the nut from backing off.

Yep. If cotter pinned correctly, the rod should have stayed attached.
You should have lost the nut, 2 washers & a spring only.

Yep. If cotter pinned correctly, the rod should have stayed attached.

I also lost the bushing or whatever it is that bolt passes through.

Don't recall seeing that bushing on other setups? Otherwise, take the other side apart and make a trip to ACE or other hardware store and match the spring up and other missing nuts and washers as needed. The adjusting nut might be a little harder but longer type nut with bevels ground would work like the sample from the other side work, even a steel one. The sleeve would just be a piece of steel tube with hole drilled through it.

Or even a solid piece of steel rod with a hole drilled through it.

I own three T's with original Rocky Mountain brakes, and I've never had a part fall off!

Hi Jason,
Have you been able to get the parts you need for your RM brakes? If not Mc Master-Carr has L bolts in 3/8 x 16 in many lengths of both
dimensions in Tensile strengths of 58,000-120,000 lb.& thread length. Look under Hook anchors for concrete. The adjuster nut can be made
from a 3/8" coarse rod coupler, the swivel tube can be made of any tubing of the correct Diameter & every thing else is hardware nuts, washers
spring & cotter pins.

Buds daughter, Suzanne, has taken over the business and it’s now based in stevensville Montana! She is responsive to emails and very helpful.
