Has anyone ever seen or heard of a figure of the number of Model T's which started life without a factory body.
Gordon Mc Gregor (Ford Canada founder) stated a Ford Model T was the Factories chassis product to be adapted for any use not just the facory versions.
Initially Ford Canada found the factories production exceeded the ability to have sufficient bodies to accomodate them.
Vast numbers were sent to other countries as a chassis and local bodies were built for them there. Any one could buy a chasssis and do whatever with it.
In the USA Ford had various builders supplying bodies early on and made available the chassis from 1912 and many companies purchased them and had bodies built for their use by the company through the whole of he Model T's production.
Ford never objected to it's chassis becoming any type of vehicle, there are many examples of these bodies proudly illustrated in early Ford Times magazines.
So how many were produced which never had a factory approved body?
