Is there a difference in rear spring heights between years? I am putting the 26 speedster together and am sorting out ride height.

Yes, the 26-27 ones are shorter.
And they have had several different numbers of leaves depending on how heavy the body is.

Reviewed several old discussions. Several allude to the 1926-27 being different. Some suggest that the arch was lower to match with with the lower front spindles. Only one picture of two different ones, the difference mentioned was in the number of leaves. The parts book does indicate differences in the leaves based on a 8 or 9 leaf configuration. 8 leaves for 1918-1927 & 9 leaves for 1922-1927

The encyclopedia describes springs leaves by year & in some case model. But it indicates 6 & 7 leaf versions

It may be that the 8 leaf has a lower arch than the 9 leaf as in this photo.

I will stand corrected on this matter.
The ones I have been calling 26-27 rear springs must just be worn out, smashed flat later springs.
Used ones come in all sorts of heights after 100 years of use and abuse.

If the eye width is in the neighborhood they can be naturally lowered for a speedster. What's the height & eye to eye length?
