In Mexico City in 1983, I saw some of the fanciest buses I have ever seen... sleek and modern, with well-dressed people getting off and on at stops in La Zona Rosa. The very next bus to pull up at the stop might be a grimy, battered, and run- down 3rd class bus with open windows, loud, smokey exhaust, and all sorts of people jammed aboard, along with goats and chickens and whatever. These buses cost very little to ride.
