I have two of the older Texas T Distributors (-I think that is who made these) with the Bosch head. Both of these have the bell-crank timing adjustment rods if that helps identify them. Has anyone actually removed the head on these and removed it from the mast? If so, what is the trick to releasing the Distributor head from the body??

You need to remove the small roll pin at the bottom and is accessible by removing the machine screw.

Hi Brent,
Most all of these distributors are very much alike the bolt in the side of the body goes into a groove that keeps the distributor from turning to
far & from lifting out of the body. & many you have to drive the pin out of the driven gear to lift the shaft out. The Bosch 600 series have a nut that holds the gear on the shaft. The front plate setups you can usually remove the distributor out the top with out taking the whole thing off.

Thanks Craig, - but not this one. No set screw on the side. Just a small hole with a tiny setscrew. (- as an oil hole maybe????)

I was afraid of what Hank was saying was going to be the case. No room on the backside to allow the roll pin to exit the shaft.

Drill a hole 180 degrees out from machine screw 3/16", when finished fill with JB Weld!

My Rader ( I was told it was Reeder ) distributor has a grease zerk in the upper body of the drive assembly. & a hole drilled & tapped 10-32 in the
lower part ( gear case) to drive the pin through as Hank described. I believe my other Reeder has that hole drilled & tapped to 1/4" fine and a
grease zerk installed in it to grease the gears.
