Getting ready to paint my brake drums. I would think a high temp paint would be a benefit. Does anyone have a recommendation on a good paint to use?

Same paint as your chassis or wheels. Just don't paint or prime the outside friction surface. They should not get so hot that more than the OD gets warm enough to damage the paint.

I use Cerakote. It takes the heat and its thin. Holds up real well.

I've have always used the same enamel used on the frame. The trans brake adds no heat. If one is in the habit of using the 26-7 lined emergency brake as a service brake, it may get too hot. If it does get hot enough to affect the paint, you have been on the brink.

If your worried about heat Caliper Paint, engine paint or High Temp paint. Otherwise same as frame or jazz up the speedster with color
I used the Duplicolor as it was only type available in 2009 on my daily driver.

I paint drums with ordinary Rustoleum, like the rest of the wheel. It's no problem.

Hi Morgan,
I'll go out on a limb guessing you have Auxiliary outside brakes? Frank is spot on Rust-Oleum makes the High Heat 2000* F in gloss black black.
I use tractor paint on my T's & have A-C & Rockies on them & have never had the paint blister & burn off. I have seen over adjusted Rockies
catch fire but after that new paint can be put on the drums when they & the linings are replaced.
Craig.

Some previous owner painted the rear drums on my T with whatever. I only have the brakes that the car left the factory with, and have owned it for almost 15 years; I only use the parking brake to park. The outside of the drums look fine. As has been said, if you have some kind of an auxiliary brake that contacts outside of the drum, I would not paint the contact area.
