Model T prevails at hill climb.

For those of you following the adventures of the Wild Cherry II race car and its team we are pleased to report it took King of the Hill at the Auburn FAST hill climb on Saturday with an E.T. Of 8.8 seconds on a 1/10th mile 5 percent grade. There were some bad news A and B powered race cars there. We will probably not race it at Auburn again. This car is the first and so far only model T to take the crown at Lincoln Nebraska are we were invited in subtle terms not to bring it back. There were some ruffled A feathers. Anyway we don’t take it back where it has already won. We have two more races for it before we put it out to stud. After that we will be stepping up on our efforts to campaign the DOHC Gallivan/Rajo powered T racer. We have our work cut out for us. It has more power but is heavier and has all vintage speed parts, no drag racing suspension and transmission brake automatic like the Wild Cherry. It also takes a bunch more talent to drive. We look forward to the challenge and putting on a good show for model T speed enthusiasts.

I also have a Gallivan running in a 1915 T roadster. Not into hill climbing just touring. The high compression pistons were replaced from 12 to1 down to 8 to 1. I run 2 up draft SR Winfield's. After going through 2 Ruxstils they were replaced with a modified Columbia overdrive with model t 26/27 big drums and Rocky Mt brakes, 20" Buffalo wire wheels.
Because the head is longer and with the Aluminum gear case the frame was lengthened and the firewall was set back a couple of inches to fit the engine under a stock hood.
This engine and car was restored in the mid '50's by a very good friend of my fathers. Bert was a very inventive and creative guy. This Gallivan has the Hiso style valve adjustments unlike the later copies. I purchased a collection of Fronty race cars, engines, the Riverside special and the Gallivan from the late Ron Kiplings estate. It is a very fun and exciting car to drive.

The driver of the "King of the Hill"- "Wild Cherry II" was Cody Schuetze. He had a time of 8.871et, 66.20mph. He also drove his own car to win "Fastest Flathead" with a time of 10.285et, 54.76mph. I believe this is the first time a person has won both King of the Hill and Fastest flathead. Way to go Cody!
