Starter Bendix rebuild

I have a new starter bendix on order and should be here in a few days.
But in the meantime, I have the part and would like to find out how to replace the gear engagement piece.
I am calling the parts by the wrong name my apologies.
Here is the picture of the one that came off the car and the replacements.
There has to be a way to replace it.
If anyone as an exploded view or steps to fix this, would be extremely help full.
After I get this one repaired it will be going under the seat for an emergency fix.

This post from 2023 shows pics of how I get the stop nut off the Bendix shaft, then you can replace the gear.

Notice that your replacement gear does not have the small, spring loaded, plunger pin that goes into the small hole in the flange counterweight. It is essential that it be there or your bendix gear will drift into the ring gear at will.

Dan and Jerry,
Thank you for the replies. If I remember right, the broken collar has the little spring. I thought it was a screw and didn't know why.
I looked at the thread. Great information there. This looks like a weekend project.
