Speedster Colors wanted

Recently purchased a 1914 model t speedster. Flat fendered, bucket seats oval gas tank. flat Rootlieb wood dash, no windshield. Was painted typical yellow.
When finished it will have the new rounded Rootlieb speedster fenders , 26-27 wire wheels with rear mounted spare. Lots of brass including a brass vee radiator and E&J brass lamps. Lots of brass trim. This has been lowered and dropped front axle plus engine moved back and uses a louvered torpedo lengthened hood.

I am asking for interesting paint schemes. Just not yellow, I have 3 yellow cars in my collection already. So what color schemes do you have in mind or on your speedster. Open to suggestions, please help. pictures would be helpful. At 82, this will be my last restoration, just want it a bit different

A light to mid grey for the frame, and undercarriage with maroon--burgundy fenders. The maroon will complement and add accent to all the brasswork, and pinstriping the body and fenders with same grey will tie it all together nicely. Use either on the wheels. Perhaps paint one of each colour and see what tickles your fancy.

Howard,
True deep, dark Midnight blue is always beautiful with French grey pinstripe like a Torpedo or open roadster Maybe French grey on the wheels. If you want another contrast you could paint the fenders black.

If this is going to be an actual restoration, please do not use the '26/27 wire wheels. In all my years of looking at speedster photos taken in the Model T/A era, I have yet to see a SINGLE brass speedster with '26/27 wheels.
As to the paint question, the photos reveal simplicity, one or two colors. While the black and white photographs show much, they conceal exact pigments.

Go t the MTFCA main website. Under Resources you will see Photos link. They are by year and also one for speedsters. Buffalo wire wheels would be a better choice for early speedster than 26-7

Go to:
https://www.nwvs.org/members-speedster-gallery/
And look at hundreds (maybe just lots) of speedsters and their colors.
They have a great section for period pictures but they are all in black and white so no color information there.
To be period stay away from metallic paints.

If I get to building one some day it will be a "black radiator" version with an orange body and blue fenders etc.

Interesting post about speedster colors.
I agree to stay away from metallic or a paint job that looks to much like plastic. More period correct as far as the color or paint sheen would be my choice if I was building one. But that’s just me.
The super glossy and plastic looking paint jobs are for more modern 30’s and 40’s hot rods.

Black fenders always look good with any other color. Cream colored seats really do not go with many other colors. Stripes are always good lookin.

Hi Dick,
The great race about or bearcat styling of the teens between Stutz & Mercer was legendary ( there is nothing worser than a Mercer & You
have to be nuts to drive a Stutz) Yellow was a flashy color of the time but red or red with black fenders was also very popular. Brite white
with any color upholstery is great looking too.
Craig.

A very good friend has a 1915 Stutz Bearcat, dark red, almost dark maroon, body, with black fenders. I love it!

WOW Thank you for all your input. Have not finalized the color scheme yet, I'm leaning towards light and dark gray with vermillion stripe and highlights. Thinking gray leather in the seats leaning to a lighter shade of gray. This all said it all depends on my significant other and her input.

just sayin'

My wife picked French gray with vermillion stripe. She also wanted natural wood wheels but I would have painted them
