Ruckstell Shift Rod Relocation

I'm putting the Sure Stop Disc Brake kit on my '25 Touring and so I have to flip the Ruckstell shift rod connection from the left (driver) side of the transmission to the right (passenger) side.

After about an hour of fooling around with it I have come to the conclusion that I'm going to have to bend the shifting rod to make it fit, but before I do that I wanted to check here to make sure I'm not overlooking something obvious.

I have the one piece shift rod and the shift rod support is loose on the driveshaft tube as I'm manipulating it.

Is it common to have to bend the rod when doing this kind of relocation?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Problem solved. (and no bending!!)

As is often the case, while contemplating this problem during my Sunday morning constitutional a solution presented itself.

I disconnected the rod support u-bolt which allowed me to freely maneuver the rod correctly into position.

Now I just have to get a longer u-bolt for the rod support because the current one is too short to reach the driveshaft tube. Plus, the old one is looking pretty gnarly anyhow.
