Photos from the past

While cleaning out my father’s estate, I realized the sheer number of photos that he had, a lifetimes worth.
Some had notations on the back, most didn’t though. I found it troubling to toss some of them, but I had no idea who the people were in them. I sure he did though.
Photos are good for 2-3 generations before they become just some picture of people we don’t know and had no connection to. My children never knew my grandparents, so why would they treasure those pictures.

Happy pictures of folks enjoying their life and were photo worthy before pictures became “free” with our phones. The cost of film, development, and storing hundreds if not thousands of pictures was/ is staggering.

Getting to the point of this post,

I enjoy the pictures that are posted showing snippets of a life gone by. The cars are the reason, but I look at what is in the background as well.
These pictures are part of the story of someone’s life that has long since past. That they were not thrown out with all of the somewhat useless stuff we collect over a lifetime is amazing. Tom Rootlieb seems to have a very deep well of them to share with us, and I, and many of us enjoy seeing his posts.
I know that other forum members also share these glimpses of the past, and I am truly grateful that they do.

Thank you for your efforts and willingness to share from your collections.
