I called a couple of well known Model T suppliers. I was told 6-8 weeks by both of them for a new radiator. They are drop shipped.

So I called Gery. He stated he has the one I need in stock. He will ship it out next week with Speedee delivery. I even get a visit by Mr McFeely. Who could ask for more.

He also advised me to stay away from Motometers. They can be heavy and snap the neck. He stated with his radiator I wont have to worry about it overheating, so why put on a Motometer. Leave it the way Henry designed it.

On '20s cars, I like the look of dog-bones and motometers. Kind of a jazz age thing. For brass era, I prefer the simple Ford cap.
I like Bergs radiators! Wish they still made brass ones.

Personally, I like having a MotoMeter, you never know when a leak may develop or the fan belt breaks and the temp may go up, it's nice to know what's going on. If there is a chance that a MotoMeter can cause a neck to crack loose, then the neck connection should be made stronger so it can't crack. I don't think it would be all that hard to do. Maybe a flange with some rivets or silver solder? JMHO Dave

Before I replaced the non-leaking radiator in my '27, the engine would overheat in 15 minutes whether idling or driving. I installed a new Berg's flat-tube radiator and now I can't make it overheat.

I do have a vintage “midget” motometer on my Bergs low radiator and it has been interesting watching the status as I drive. I have only had one overheating incident snd it was caused by using a winterfront in 4 degree weather in January. Can’t imagine it has enough weight to cause a problem.


But I also have a dogbone fitted with a tiny camera obscura style view finder from an early hand crank movie camera. I put this on when I’m going to work at the Museum. People enjoy that you can actually see an image on the ground glass.

I put a Berg's rad. In almost 3 years ago. No heating problems at all. I carry a temp gun to check now and then. The young people don't understand how they cool without a water pump, so the temp gun help's

Right or wrong I have a theory on motor meters. On new brass radiators, read BRASS WORKS, using a "wing" cap will certainly cause the thimble to come loose and leak. Happened twice with mine. I think the brass is not tempered or something and air currents and vibration will cause it to leak. I have been told that the brass in these radiators is the same thickness and therefore have concluded that it must be the strength of the brass. I switched to a dog bone and have never had a problem. That is why I reference the wind along with the weight of the wings. Just my experience.

Before I install my new radiator is there anything I should know? In previous posts i read that I need a longer hose
for the top connection than what comes in the kit???

Took less than a week and the radiator is here. My austrailian guests leave today and will be back in a week. I should have that radiator installed by then. Many thanks to Gery for a job well done.
