Dan,
Thank you for posting the step-by-step with photos.
Only took me 30 minutes to install a new horn button by not using those steps.
I had to go to confession at my local church for using very bad language while doing the installation.

Gene,

Stand on your head, Lift left foot up 6" not to exceed 8", point your tongue towards Alabama, Say "Mississippi" one hundred and two times...., Done Baby!

Thank you for the PM. I did not realize that the MTFCI website had your articles in the hot links on the main page. Maybe I should look at their website a bit more often.

I probably spent 3 hours today trying to get that horn button put together. It was on there before, but sure does not want to go back on now. I replaced the wires, and when it is together the button moves about 10 thousands. I have to find a way to get it together so the button works. I might have to try the upholstery tack method that you used. Can't hurt.

Thank you for your help.

I wonder if it would be easier to install this button instead of the original.

Has anyone else done that?
