My son adopted a 1911 Model T at the National Auto Museum in Reno for my birthday. We stopped by to check it out. Also at the museum was this Ames Speedster. The placard said it was restored by Harrah’s and sold to someone in Southern California. It was donated back to the museum earlier this year. Does anyone know anything about it?

I don't know where Harrah got the car, but it was in the collection for years. Here are a few photos of it in the museum catalog and on a post card. It says it had a Fronty head. I remember seeing it on several visits to the museum.
Its was inspired me to finally find one of my own.

Under the hood on the drivers side there should be a round brass disc with a number stamped in it. This is the number assigned to the car when it was added to the collection. Once added to the collection we did a file. In that file will be a list of missing and incorrect parts. Also any interesting features such as the head, carburetor, any accessories. We had files on every car. Not sure anyone there have the knowledge or ability to look for that file. Also included were a complete group of photos, now these were Polaroids and may be faded by now. As you adopted this speedster the file should be available. I remember when Mike Roberts took the photos, they were taken at Bill Harrah's home on South Virginia Street. There were a number of different cars taken the same day. Check on Ebay those photos show up from time to time.

Thanks for the photos Dodge. It looks pretty much the same except for the windscreens. Somewhere along the way the Pasco wheels got relaced with polished spokes. I kinda prefer the white.

I didn’t adopt the speedster Dick. My son adopted the 11 mother in law roadster for my birthday. The Ames caught my eye. At 250 a pop I can’t adopt many.
