Where did #7 (The crated Model T Chassis Complete) come from? Any backstory or notations? Did they ever crate cars for delivery inside the U.S.?

It is a left hand drive so it wasn't a Canadian built car bound for Australia or NZ.

That wonderful picture of the knocked down chassis shows much of it painted a shiny black. The motor does not look like it shares the same finish. It looks to be a glossy lighter color, possibly oiled cast iron? We have had a lot of discussion over the years about the issue of engine finish. As I recall, it has been suggested that the motor was coated with a thin blackish brew that was something less than proper paint.

What can we tell from this picture?

The rear axle tapers and front spindle threads are secured into large blocks of wood so the crate sides would have to be built afterwards. And is their purpose to protect the threads or to raise the chassis sufficiently for wheel storage ?

I came across picture #7 a few years back, caption states crating for overseas shipping.
