Repairs to 27 the touring top

The top of the 27 Canadian touring needs the 2” wide straps replaced. Also It also doesn’t fit very well, the drivers side is not tight, the passenger side seems fine.
I understand to replace the straps will require pulling the staples.
Before I take on the project, I think it would be best to follow the top manufacturers instructions.
It seems all tops are not same?
This is a 27 Canadian model.
Is Clastique upholstery still around? maybe they will share their installation video

Ideally, you should not have to remove the entire top to replace the straps. Just pull back the top material in the areas where the straps are attached. Then remove the staples, (I hate staples), and sneak in the new straps, pull them taut, then tack them to the bows, (or use staples if you want to).

Some pictures might help us, help you. ;)

Dave, yes, Classtique is still around. I recently looked at their installation videos for a project car. Go to the Classtique site and there are links to their videos.

Agree. Just remove tacks or staples at the rear curtain where the straps are tacked (might be staples) by lifting up the top cover. Do same at front bow, and replace each strap at a time.

Did similar on my touring, straps were ok but pads were torn and worn, so had to remove the whole top cover. Difficulty is rather low, just remove, add, and replace.

Post below shows pics of work.
