Can any of my fellow TT owners post a pictures of how the “as built” battery box/tray set up, preferably for a 1924 or later with ford supplied cab. My 1924 set up with my C-Cab is not original and as I’m revamping this area, I’d like to make it as close to original as possible.

Here you go Bruce,

You need 5 pieces - all of which I think Snyders or Langs sell. One photo shows how they all fit together. There’s one angle iron with 4 holes. Outboard 2 bolt into the runningboard supports. Inboard 2 bolt to the 2 strap metal pieces. Other end of the strap metal pieces bolt to existing holes in the runningboard. Then you’ll fashion a wood base to fit in this strap metal cradle into which you’ll place your battery. Finally, theres 2 hard to find brackets that bolt into 2 holes (5/16”) pre drilled in the runningboard supports. I only picture one. If you can’t find these from the vendors, call Paul Ray Martin outside of Slaton……
Or me…..

OK; I gathered up the 2nd strap metal piece and the 2nd clad in gold spot price bracket that bolts to the other runningboard support…the 2 straps and angle iron are easily farm made.

Thanks George! This helps. Fortunately, in one of my early parts orders, I included the formed hold down brackets which are now not available so I have those. The rest of the parts look straightforward enough. I’m now in the market for one of the now discontinued plastic battery cases to enclose an Optima 6 volt.

If you're looking for one of those plastic battery cases that holds an Optima 6 volt battery, you'll find that the battery case is the size for a Model. A battery, not for Model T battery...... The Optima 6 volt battery fits perfectly in that case, although the case is slightly larger than the opening for the original Model T Ford battery holder.

I second George. My TT actually has battery holders on both sides since it used to have 2 batteries but now I only use the holder on the drivers side since I converted it back to 1 six volt. This is the best picture I have of it currently. Hope it helps.

An Optima 6 volt battery fits into a standard T battery carrier, diagonally. This means the terminals can be off-set just like the originals. It also means that a wooden battery box can have triangular pieces in each corner to strengthen the box. Henrietta has such a box, on the running board, rather than beneath the tray.
