Tuning Up a Magneto Horn

After repairing the horn switch & reworking the horn on a '23, I've come to find the horn needs a bit of work. What exactly does the adjusting screw do?

The adjusting screw on a magneto horn is at the back of the horn trumpet. If you have the back cover off a later battery horn and are loooking at an adjustment screw, the advice will be different.
