Help with 1926-27 Upholstery tuck?

Hey guys,
I am about to start my '26 Upholstery for my Touring car, can someone snap a pic or two of your upholstery so I can see how it fastens and it tacked down without a seat cushion in place? I am confused how the cover tacks to the bottom wood and then wraps around the sides of the backrest.

Thanks very much,
Jim Chochole

The hip pads go in first. Then the backrest lays down, tack the upper first, pull taut over the backrest springs, and tack to the wood tack strip at the base.

Hip pad on far right, fitted first, then backrest, tucked under behind.

Yep, thanks Dan. I am comfortable with the top and bottom tacking, my main question is sides of the back cushion- how do those get tacked and fastened to the spring and still be tacked into the bottom? Just wondering how it looks.

Thanks,
Jim

See circled sides, since there isn't a tack strip on the sides, how does the cover get fastened down?

The sides for the backrest upholstery are made extra wide, they just 'tuck' in and under the backrest spring, the mushy padding gives the fill against the hip pads, or you can add more fill if you wish. No tacks, if you wanted to, you could just pull it away, but in reality it stays put, as the whole backrest upholstery is under tension of being tacked at the upper tack strip and at the lower tack strip across the horizontal.

The backrest spring 'floats' from straps hung from the upper tack strip.

This is a rear seat backrest, similar to how the front seat in a touring is done. The rear has wood stays, the front seat only a metal stiffener and uses a water proof cardboard backing panel to insulate the body metal from the spring.
