Since I have some time on my hands I decided to clean out the storage space under the back seat. In addition to the screw jack, spare parts, and tool kit that I knew were there I found this device and just can't make heads or tails of it.

It looks to be some kind of promotional item although I can't make out the name of the company.

My foot, clad in fashionable Croc, is there for scale.

It's for opening the oil petcock on the transmission/engine and lowering the dust level on your dirt road...

the older you get, the more valueable this thing will become.

To add a bit to what Scott said, the tool is marked "TROP-ARTIC LUBRICANTS", which is an old brand name for a line of Phillips 66 motor oil. Multi-viscosity motor oils were a pretty "big deal" when they were a new concept back in "mid-century" times,....hence the "cutsie" name! Not trying to sound like a "know-it-all", however, it's more a matter of being OLD!!! I'll bet that tool was a "give-away" if you had a Phillips 66 "service station" do the customary,...."lube, oil & filter" service. FWIW,....harold

.....well,.....in thinking about it, the name "TROP-ARTIC" appearing on a Model T Ford tool,....that would have been considerably BEFORE multi-viscosity motor oil! However, "TROP-ARTIC" is a Phillips 66 brand name. I guess maybe that name was meant to convince people to use Phillips 66 motor oil for both summer & winter! (???)

I name alot of my tools. When they slip or break, I use their special names.

Looks like it had a small "peg" on the side that is broken off, made to poke into the outlet on the petcock to make sure it wasn't plugged.

Well, since I replaced the lower petcock with a dipstick tube and the upper petcock with larger handle replacement, I guess I'll clean this up and hang it on the wall.
