Forums and Websites Status update

Here's where we are as of noon today:

First - why did we do this? Most of our club's servers were down last week for almost a week. And Chris and I called for help and nobody could help us.
So, after a TON of due diligence including test calls to their support line before we moved all the sites, we now have a new, single web hosting company called "Liquid Web" that we are using. When we (or even Susan now) call them for help, a live support rep answers usually within about 60 seconds and they *almost always* can fix the problem while on the phone. So we transferred all our MTFCA website business to a professional web hosting company.

Where does that leave us now? Whats left to do.

- All transfers are done. If you're reading this, you are on the new site. Nothing more to do.

- Your old bookmarks should work now.

- Links on the MTFCA.COM website have been updated and should all work except Museum and that is being worked on now.

- password resets now limit the passwords you can use to 10 letters instead of 70 or 80. That was an obscure setting and caused nothing but grief, but it's fixed.

Thanks Jeff and Chris for all you do regarding the web site and especially the forum. It’s a great resource and we would really miss it without you guys.
Special thanks to Chris who helped me with my password problem, he fixed using my phone at the Billings car show. 😊😊

Thank you so very much. I can relate to all you said, and understand what you are talking about. I did that sort of work for some years myself, and burned out on other's incompetence and "don't care" attitudes. We are having problems with phones right now in my family, Verizon, Comcast, manufacturers, programmers and applications, all finger pointing and saying it isn't their fault. It is the way businesses are run these days, and it is infuriating to deal with.
Sorry you needed to deal with all that, and thank you all so very much for doing so.
Hopefully, the new host will make your job easier from now on.

thanks for the kudos folks, much appreciated. To think how much I could have done to my T by now... And worse yet, here I am at the coast in Pacifica CA on vacation, and my wife keeps asking me "why are you spending so much time on the phone w/ tech support? Don't you get enough of that at work?" and the dreaded "shouldn't you go take your dog for a walk so he can poop?" I hate that question.

Here's proof I'm at the coast AND that images are working. I'll spare you the pic of my dog and his business :)

First login here, so far so good.
Maybe there should be another notification on the 2018 forum, or a new link.
I found the MTFCA home page let me in and my old link was no good.
I was unable to get anything for 2 days before I tried that.
I was just about ready to browse a MOPAR forum... :lol: :shock:

Keep up the never ending good work all !! :D

Thanks everyone that works on this.
I was getting the jitters wanting to get on the forums.
I had no idea what was going on and decided to email some forum members just to see if it was my problem or everyone was having difficulties.

The old site isn't accessible any longer, thankfully... Im now eternally thankful that nightmare has ended.

The old links you and everyone else has should all work now. you can update your bookmarks or not....it shouldn't matter, by design. That took some doing, trust me!!!

Yeah, I updated all the outdated home page links. that was long overdue!!!

I'm finally on the home stretch. The homecoming link is about all that remains to be fixed and our new host is working on it. Not me. I'm drinking. Heavily...
after all, I am on "vacation".

Thanks for your hard work but still having trubs loggin in. It tells me my password is incorrect. Thought I had it fixed yesterday! Will I need to go through the "forgot password" drill everytime I attempt to log in? When I try to change the password via my profile I get a message indicating that my user name is already being used by someone else. We're almost there but it's still more difficult that it should be.

I was able to log in using the temp password you sent me and managed to change to a new password on my profile page. The link you sent though does not work. It leads me to a menu of lots of different topics but when I attempted to click onto the link from that page it tells me "Page not found." I'm still logged in on the temp password you sent and will log out and see what happens when I try to log in again using my newly changed password. Appreciate all your help, you guys must be going nutz over this. Think you deserve a pay raise!

Boy, I sure do hope there are no Model T clubs in India. If there are any Indian or Indian Americans on the forum and/or club members please accept my apologies on behalf of the hobby. I guess only "real English speaking" folks allowed?

Got to be all inclusive if our hobby is going to survive...

I assume that includes presuming the right to apologize on behalf of an entire group for something said by someone who doesn't regret in the least saying it, thereby wrapping oneself in righteousness. Virtue signaling is different from turn signaling. The latter is good and encouraged, the former more often than not tiresome.... :D

Well, yeah, kinda. You appear to be arguing that "inclusiveness" requires hiring tech support call center staffers who don't speak intelligible English, so we don't discriminate against people who speak unintelligible English. That certainly fits into the current understanding of "inclusiveness" (gotta love political correctness) but doesn't seem to me to be very much help to the people who need tech support. I hope you never need help from any of them! Sort of like hiring blind people to evaluate color charts. "Yes, but we're very inclusive...." :D
