Pictures of trip to Model T Haven #2 repost of lost photos
Since I have had several request for the pictures of our visit to Model T Haven last week, and it appears that the original posts pictures are lost forever . Ill post them again and Ill add the pics of the 1921 Ames. I really would like to buy the Ames but I do not need any more projects right now. I have no connection to Mark or Model T Haven, I just think it is a real nice project for someone ..
repost of original thread ...
Here are some of the pictures of our visit to Model T Haven a couple days ago. There is no way pictures can show what is there. I took pics of some of the large collection of Model T accessories Mark recently bought and is selling on e-bay or to lucky "walk-in customers" like me They are in a big room just spread out on the floor. Or some of the stuff has been somewhat sorted on shelves or piles of similar items. He has not even gone thru all the boxes of NOS items yet. I feel like I was given "rock star" access to all the parts as I was allowed to just dig to my hearts content. I spent several hours in that room going thru boxes and boxes of NOS accessories. As I went thru things I tried to help sort and move some things to where they should belong. I maybe saw 1/4 of what was there. It was overwhelming and there are still boxes I did not open. It would take several days to just sort out the piles. I hope I helped Mark out at least a little bit, because the opportunity to dig thru that much high quality parts is getting to be almost a non-existent pleasure to have the opportunity to do. Then we went outside to the sheds to see the for sale project cars. I took some pictures of some of the cars in the sheds, but again, pictures do no really show what is there. Then we went to the "back lot" ... Its just a "sea of rusty Model Ts" as well as some later stuff. There are lots of buildings full of T parts just stacked to the ceilings.... I gave up trying to take pictures of the stuff in the buildings,
The main reason I went, was to look for a 30x3-1/2 clincher rim for my set of Buffalo disc wheels. I have four good ones but need something for a spare. The wife and myself spent hours digging and digging and digging looking for something that would work or be able to modify for my spare tire. We found nothing at all .. Looks like I will have to custom make me a rim out of several different wheels to get all the beads, and lugs in the proper locations. I see some quality time with my welder coming up in the near future.
The last pictures will show some of the goodies I bought. I did not buy much, (it took all my self control to not buy a truck load) but I did find a very nice EZ-Power PTO unit for my tractor conversion. Its missing the pully, so if anyone has a extra EZ-Power pully they want to sell or trade, let me know. I also found a nice dropped axel and some small goodies to appease my "need to buy something"
Mark sometimes gets a bad rap, but I have always had good dealings with him and have always been treated very well .... Prices are reasonable, I did not even try to haggle with him on the things I bought.
Just want to say thanks again, to everyone at Model T Haven for a very good time ....

Donnie, what is the purpose of the drop in the middle of the axle? It also appears to not be symmetrical, the lower bend on the left is at a different angle than the one on the right. Just curious, never seen one like that. Dave
1925 mostly original coupe.

Re: Pictures of trip to Model T Haven #2 repost of lost photos
Thank you Donnie, for re-posting these! With a bit more time, I was able to identify two of the project chassis/cars as Overlands. I also noticed the label on the photo of the Aerocar and "Not for sale" on it. Still wondering what the red early car is, looks like a two cylinder. And what year the Maxwell is, looks like a nice project also.
That Ames sedan is incredible! I have never seen another one like it. wonderful photos, thank you.
Talk about my kind of a candy store! I could go nuts in there if I had a few thousand to spend, and not even look at a car.

Re: Pictures of trip to Model T Haven #2 repost of lost photos
The dipped axles were used when dropping the front end. Some of the different styles of lowering brackets used would cause the axle to hit the hand crank. So the "dip" would allow the axle to miss the hand crank. A lot of the dipped axles were ""made at home" so they are sometimes a little crudely made. As long as both ends are OK and the caster/camber is set right , what happens in the middle does not affect anything.
Wayne, the little red car is a REO. I think it is a 1906 year model. There were several Overland project cars.
The only car Mark said he did not want to sell was the Aerocar.

Very cool. I know how much time this took and sorry we lost the pics in the change. This was the post I was really hoping to have restored!

So, did that place start out a an old auto graveyard back in the 1930s or was it more of a revival parts yard? What a shame there aren’t more poll barns over the still usable iron.

Re: Pictures of trip to Model T Haven #2 repost of lost photos
Jeff, No big deal. I'm getting pretty fast at posting pics. If I ever get where I can "zip" picture files I will be dangerous and may beat my previous record of 151 pictures in a single post. . Sometimes things need to be sacrificed for the better good. I for one appreciate all of the hard work you administrators do for us.
Model T Haven is a relative new place. I'm not sure how long he has been in business, maybe 25 years or so ????. It is not a ancient junk yard. It is his "day job" and what pays the bills. The major focus of the place is model Ts. Then anything pre-war. Then finally anything post war that sells good .like convertibles, 2doors, ext. The better parts are inside sheds and buildings, The outside stuff is kept up out of the dirt, and turned to not hold water as best they can. The biggest danger to the outside stuff is lazy customers who drag the parts out of the piles or turn them over and then just leave them to hold water. But overall the outside stuff is doing pretty good. Inside would be better, but buildings cost a lot to build.

Great pics! Thanks Donnie!
Hah! I think I met those folks at the convenience store along I-29 at the ND/SD border, they were gassing up.
