Pressure testing blocks.

Post by Erik Barrett » Sun Jul 21, 2019 8:45 pm

I thought some might be interested in how we pressure test model T’s. Every block and head that comes out of here goes through this. It’s very simple to do but it has prevented quite a few flawed parts from being sent out the door only to cause problems later.

How high can combustion pressures get in older engines?
I have an off topic engine that has a notorious reputation for weak upper combustion chambers, side mounted head and this setup is exactly what I was looking for with all the details Erik! Thank you.

I made something like that but added a pressure gauge.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

There is a plate made that has cutouts for the valves and clys for sale at a vendor. Let’s you look at the top of block or head while you test it. Dan
