4wd T racer

Post by Kaiser » Fri Aug 09, 2019 7:31 am

Don't know if this has been posted here before, found it while browsing aimlessly on the interweb, have a look at the crazy construction of the frontend, the accident apparently was waiting to happen ;)

The photos make me wonder about a lot of technical issues, like how did the rear driveshaft and the drivers butt get along  , and how did the front get its drive, straight from the front pulley :?: and the front spindles don't seem to have upper support
Obviously the unsupported rear tube axle was not up to the forces of dirt track racing
When in trouble, do not fear, blame the second engineer ! 8-)

Leo
1. It is Front Wheel Drive, not 4 wheel drive
2. The engine is in backwards

Looks like a pretty rough imitation of the Hamlin Special, which did race at Indianapolis.

Here’s a pic of how the Hamlin Special was laid out. Motor in backwards, fancy pedal linkage, and oh yeah... Fronty DO, supercharger, and other fancy race car stuff! ;) I don’t have a pic, but the front suspension is a real piece of art too!

It would be a FUN project to build one like it. Incorporate CV joints in the steering would help a little!!

Thanks for clearing that up Les, and Kevin have a look at the precarious spot that carb is at, and no air filter
