I recently purchased a single barrel Bridgeport tire pump. I thought it was the correct one for the 1915 era Model T. Now I'm not sure. I've noticed it does NOT have the Ford script on the bottom. Does anyone know what year(s) the single-barrel Bridgeport pump was supplied with new Model T Fords? Does it have to have the Ford script on the bottom, or were some supplied without the script? Rick, According to my most recent issue of Model T Times page 22, 1915 used the same pump as had been used since 1911. Calling it the Bridgeport Brass and the photo with the paragraph shows a double barrel. Say nothing about being Ford badged. Jim

The MTFCA encyclopedia says, "

TIRE PUMP
T-1368 is the Ford design tire pump. On February 21, 1920 the drawing indicates a redesign by showing a single-cylinder instead of the double-cylinder pump. The dates of the actual change, and the variations in design over the years are not indicated."

Then I would like to know: Is the Bridgeport tire pump with the Ford script for a Model T? This is not the only one I've ever seen.

The single barrel Ford script tire pumps don't appear to be as common as the double barrel non Ford script pump. I've never seen a double barrel Ford script pump. Has anyone else? I would like to find out more on the double barrel pumps. There is a check valve between the two stages. Is it spring loaded? Never been able to get one to work.

I have a pump identical to the one shown. It has a nickel plated barrel. I always thought that they were for the Model A's.
The Model T pump with the brass barrel and the two large FORD script on the base where your feet hold down the pump are the more common pumps that I see.

I think Jim is right, the waffle pattern base ones are Model A. Here are some pictures of a single tube pump that I bought for my 1924 Model T. A lot of folks polish up the brass body, but I'm betting that they were painted black originally.

I agree, Steve. But, instead of a foot pump, I carry a motorcycle CO2 inflator kit with enough cartridges to quickly fill two tires. It takes up much less room than a tire pump. Hopefully, I'll never need to use the inflator, since I have demountable rims and carry a fully inflated spare tire.

By the way, I no longer have the dual tube pump shown in the comparison picture, I sold it years ago.

Yes. It takes three 45 gram cartridges to fill a 30 x 3.5 inch tire to 60 psi. The cartridges get really cold when they discharge, so you need to wear gloves or wrap the cartridge with a towel when you discharge it to keep from freezing your hands.

I stopped carrying tire pumps on my bicycles, now I carry 16 gram cartridges and an inflator. A single 16 gram cartridge will fill a road bike tire to nearly 100 psi.
