Tried to do the glue on oil seal trick on a fellow
Club members car. I got the seal from langs
Split it every 1\4 inch or so flattened it out
And put it on backwards but it is too thick to allow the pulley to go on. Is there a thinner
Seal. Philip

The seal from Langs is supposed to go in the recess instead of the felt, not on the outside of the front.

How much clearance do you have? Yes, some of the seals are a bit thicker in construction than others and some cars have more clearance.
I just measured the SEAL thickness on one I have used and it is 0.210"! That's pretty thin and should be OK unless your pulley or crank is a bit different. This is a CR12458 sel.
Hope that helps.

I believe he's referring to the crankshaft seal - not cam seal.
