I put a SMALL pinpoint of green paint on the handle and another on the fuel line so when they line up, It's "on" Works for me. Bobt

Re: On...or...Off ???
If the handle lines up with the gas line, it's on.

Re: On...or...Off ???
Those who posted are very likely correct, but a positive proof, if the engine will run would be to turn the valve in the direction toward the carburetor and run until it runs out of gas. If that doesn't happen within a few minutes, try the valve in the other direction and you will know for sure. Problem with having the valve at that location, it will work for parking to keep from draining the tank, but you will still need to crawl under to turn it off if you want to remove the carburetor.

That used to confuse me also.
Finally I drew a picture on the garage wall so I didn't forget.
It helped me when I was at home but I couldn't take the garage with me on a trip.

Re: On...or...Off ???
I'm so darned forgetful and so many valves to remember. 80's Kubota engine coolant drains and even 100 year old water drains on some engines/tractors are opposite of what one might expect but coolant drains are easier to learn. With a piece of wire to test!
My solution.
UGH, yes I know it's a rats nest of incorrect in there.

Re: On...or...Off ???
It is somewhat comforting to know I am not alone. I took a picture of my valve in the open position and store it on my phone in a separate "album" titled: "starting model t", so I can remember.
