I am stockpiling parts for my early 14 touring (late Oct 1913) while the engine is being rebuilt. Is the current reproduction exhaust manifold correct for an early 14 T? I am trying to keep the car as year correct as is easily possible.

I like to keep things original where and when possible. That said, assuming you have no other correct manifold that fits, then a repro manifold is really the way to go. It will fit and you will keep from damaging the rear exhaust port on your new engine. The least amount of warp on an original manifold requires the elimination of one or more support glands. The manifold will continue to warp and the ensueing exhaust leak will slowly erode the manifold mating face on the block. If you intend to drive this car much, this is a prudent place to skip originality until you are able to find an excellent original (which will be far and few between).

The repro manifold is one of the best investments in parts you can make...it is a very good product. I have one on each of 4 cars.

That explanation of the warpage issue makes total sense. This will be another deliberate change, along with rear end thrust bushings, front wish bone and the reason for the engine rebuild, a Scat crank to replace the broken original!

On a previous thread I detailed a most satisfactory way to fit a slightly bent original manifold using an offset gland ring or two. It can be done, it will last and it will allow you to use an original manifold.

Steve J. is correct; the repros are nice and will fit fine but are the later style. I have several original '14 manifolds and will be happy to part with one to a good home

Thanks for the replys and advice. One thing I forgot to mention (due to a slipping clutch in my brain) is that the rear exhaust port on my block has seen some repair in the past and therefore I will use a new manifold. Don't want to risk any more damage to the block.
