Rim Nut Washer
I recently came across some early rim nuts. These are the round serrated type that are clearly pictured in my article on the subject two issues ago in the Model T Times. Two of the rim nuts have a leather, or some other material on the top side of the rim nut where the dust cover screws on. It's a very small washer, and can't been seen with the dust cap on. It seals the dust cap very nicely. I've seen no mention of such a thing in any of the original literature I have.
