I believe it was 12 Model T’s
There has been a real buzz of activity recently with guys buying, building and preparing T’s for this event.
Lake Perkolilli is just outside Kalgoorlie (Gold mining area) 600 Klms from Perth, the capital city of Western Australia.

That looks like a lot of fun.
Back in 1984/86 I lived in Kalgoorlie and was invited by the local club to take my '54 Chev out to Lake Perkolilli to participate in some time trials.
I cant remember exactly the figures but 94mph and 16.? seconds comes to mind for the standing quarter mile, which isn't too bad for a heavy all steel thing running on clay.
Cheers,
Rob

Hi Alan
You missed a great four days. Lots of Ts amongst the 62 cars competing. The Model Ts were fantastic. Here are some pics from Lake Perkolilli. I'll put them on a couple of posts.

The last photo of the boat tailed speedster is the car I built. It was first driven in 2005 for a national rally to Renmark on the River Murray I sold it to a fellow in Western Australia, and he moved it on to purchase a 1910 tourer. My son's boss sent me photos of it at the Red Dust Revival. I never got it that dirty, but I probably had less fun.
With Anthony at the wheel, it was timed at 105km/h during the re-enactment of the Australian Grand Prix on the roads around Lobethal in the Adelaide Hills. It went well, but stopped woefully!

Hi Allan
The skiff bodied speedster is now owned by Bruce Brown and it has a nice turn of speed. Here's another T which was at the Red Dust Revival at Lake Perkolilli. It has a Rajo head and Livingston radiator.

Do these guys use air filters on their carburetors?

Hi Allan
Bruce Brown still owns your old Speedster! For the last few years he has owned that Green Speedster (last photo with
Livingston Radiator) and your old yellow Speedster! After buying the 1910 Tourer from Victoria (Dave Bailey) one of the 3 T’s
had to go! (according to Alison) Initially it was going to be the yellow one but after a bit of fine tuning it was running so well the plan changed and the green one that wasn’t running was sold instead.
Graeme, yes a great event indeed that everyone is raving about but can’t be in two places at the same time and fabulous
to see the result of your hard work organising it all. (Must get one of those booklets off you too)

Cheers Alan

Hi Mark
Yes, everyone had air filters on their cars. I used foam filters from a go-kart shop with a cable tie to keep them on. The sticky oil you put on the filter attracted a lot of dust so you had to make sure they were kept clean every day. I think the people who used paper filters had less trouble as the dust did not stick on the filter. The foam filters don't like backfires!
Allan, it was a great event with everyone driving their Ts with enthusiasm around the claypan just like they did from 1914. There were over 60 cars in total. You can order a copy of the program off the website www.motoringpast.com.au.
We're planning another Lake Perkolilli Red Dust Revival in three years time so you have lots of notice - you could even build a racer!
All the best
Graeme

There is a long video of the Lake Perkolilli Red Dust Revival 2019 in Australia now available to view on Vimeo at https://vimeo.com/455334061 if anyone who saw the short one last year would like to see a longer version. Lots of Model Ts were there. Hard to believe it was a year ago.
