It should slide right on the back of the frame and mount 1 vertical and 2 horizontal bolts on each side if I remember correctly. It is for the rear, not the runningboard

That is the same one I have on my 24 Fordor, I had to remove it and weld it as one of the horizontal pieces was broken, I did it with the body off which makes it easier, there should be holes on the top of the frame for to mount it, 1/4" if I remember right.
Good luck
Rick

Should bolt on frame, easy. Just check to be sure your demountable rim fits, these were made for clincher and spit rims, different sizes. Your's is missing the flange and bolt assembly that is normally riveted to the lower part of the circle, to secure a rim lug, the upper u-pieces support the rim.

It’s missing that bottom riveted-on piece to fasten the spare rim/tire and keep it from swinging back and forth from the top two rim mounting points. It would also have provision for a padlock.

I have one on my 22 Roadster and I just installed one on a 20 Touring. The holes were already drilled in the frame and it just mounted right on.

There is something different about this carrier compared to the ones I have for 30x3 1/2 tires. In addition to missing the bottom bracket, it has a continuous round shape to it. Mine have straight segments on the sides with a short flat on the bottom like the one shown in Dan Treases photo.
Could this one be for the 21" tire?

Ok I will look closer and try it again. Something just not right ? This is a Canadian built car ?
Thanks everyone. The pictures really help

Mike, that must be a canadian spare tire carrier, it has left hand drive or right hand drive tail light/license plate mounting configurations.

Thanks again I went out last night and figured out what I was doing wrong. It fits on top of the frame. Very tight fit between the body and the frame.
I think I got it.
Something going wrong here but I am not sure what it is. Do you Mrs Jones ?

I believe I read somewhere that the "full circle" carrier was introduced in 1919 with the demountable rim - they don't show up often & it very well could be a Canadian piece !
