Magnetic driveshaft

Just salvaged a driveshaft from an old rusty torque tube, had to heat the u joint and flail it a bunch to get it off. When I cleaned the shaft up, found that it had been magnetized. Anyone run into this before, guess at one time one of those junk yard magnets must have picked it up.

That or dropped/strike towards the northern pole, Hard metals love the attraction.

Jim, if you wish to demagnetize the shaft, you can use an armature growler. Switch it on, pull the shaft through and move it away and presto the shaft is no longer a magnet.

Bob, I ran the shaft along my growler and presto, no more magnetism.
