Carb Throttle Rod -- Help!

I removed an accessory waterpump off my 1922 Touring and ordered a new water inlet. The only problem is that the carburetor throttle rod sits too high on the steering column, and I have no clearance to mount the new inlet. Could one of you wise people advise me how to adjust this?

The throttle arm or lever should swing under the steering column. Perhaps the position was changed at some point. There is a predrilled hole on the carb rod so there is no adjustment unless you drill another hole. You can always bend the rod to make it fit. I am thinking either the lever was reversed or the rod bent to accomodate the waterpump.

Thank you! Rod was reversed. I should have looked for that first.
