1924 Windshield Stanchion Attachment Bolt Head Diameter

Post by Thomas-Jull » Sun Oct 13, 2019 6:04 pm

Can anyone tell me the carriage bolt head diameter that attaches the windshield stanchions to the body for a 1924 Touring? The square holes in the stanchion fit a 5/16” carriage bolt but the modern head for this bolt seams to be too large looking. I am not going for a show car but I would still like it to look correct since these heads are exposed. Bruce’s book doesn’t have a close up of them. Thanks,

All of the slant windshield posts use the same diameter, which is smaller than anything made today. They were also raven finished from the factory.
If no one gives you an answer, I can go measure the ones on my 1925 for you. The 1925's use two different lengths. The 1924's should be the same.
