I had our speedster pretty well together a few years ago but then something else needed its space in the garage. Had to dismantle it and store it where I could - body in the family room, painted steering parts in the basement, even kept the wheels and engine in the garage! But we moved house and with more room it’s going back together. My winter project looks like being done before the snow flies

Could you add a few photos of the hairpins and brackets on the axle. Great design - I've been looking to do something like that. Thanks Frank

Don pic's as requested.I have used the speedo mount hole in the steering arm,for the left side I turned a right side upside down and bent to fit and used the nut at the front of the arm as well.To come up with the design of the fender bracket we started off simple took the car for a drive,it vibrated badly ,came back to the shop added another cross bracket,took for a drive and so on until the fender did not vibrate.

The photos really show how much work you put into those fender mounts. Great job and thanks for sharing. I will have to just copy them and wait for the time I can tackle a set myself.

Shane ,steering box is from an early 490 chev. Fits right inside the T column.

The wife has told me to slow down this project is to last the complete winter.

Like the idea of the cross bar to mount the steering box on. I was thinking to add a mount that ran between the pan rail and frame, but I like that better.

Mark,I made a pattern from wood and had the local foundry cast it in ductile iron.Made it so it had a period correct look. Pete

Fenders made or purchased (what/where)?

The fenders are home made using a English wheel .

Last few days progress. Intake,header and carb setup

Been kinda slow,but did get the windshield installed. We made a wood pattern then had the Amish who had a aluminum foundry cast the stanchion’s. However lots of sanding and buffing required. Cheers pete

That's the second time in a month or two I have seen spindle arms with the speedo mount hole re-purposed for a different application. Previously they were used as one of the mountings for motorcycle disc brake calipers used on the front axle of Fronty powered T roadster. Very neatly done, and easily reversed. I really liked the brake set-up, as it was far less obvious that the rear axle set used today, even though it was on the front axle.

John , steering box is a mid teens 490 Chev. For the crossmember I made a wood pattern ( see picture) and had one cast using ductile iron . I was able to use the T steering column jacket,which fits perfect. Notice at the top section off the box the brass collar is there to allow.for the tension springs on the gas and spark rods. I turned the gas/spark quadrant up to the top to be different and give some leg room. Hope this helps,anything else just ask. Cheers pete

I am glad someone here got that box. I have a 490 box also but is maybe a bit newer (not sure) and different style.

Front end coming together head lamps installed. Bought these off e bay from a vender in Quebec because they were aluminum ,which goes with the aluminum cycle fenders and hub caps etc.when they arrived there was AL cast into the top a quick Google search and these lamps are from a 1907 AL car built in France.
