I recently bought a box of mostly Model T parts. In looking at the parts more closely, I would like some help identifying these bendix parts.
In the first picture, the 2 on the bottom left appear to be Model T and the drive gear rotates clock-wise (when viewed from the top in this picture). The 3 on the bottom right rotate in the opposite direction. All rotate freely. Do you know what these will fit? Your help is appreciated. Someone may be able to use them.

Dumb thought on my part because I have never seen one in person, but would the ones with the opposite thread cut be for a right hand drive hogs head? If so, I would be interested in them. I am trying to collect all the pieces necessary to build a the speedster.

After many years of experience with Model T's and Model A's, it is my opinion that there's a very good chance that one of those will fit!

Looking at a T flywheel from the rear it turns counter clockwise. From the rear the starter turns clockwise. It does not make any difference if the starter is on the right or left as it is still turning the flywheel counter clockwise. Those other bendix would work if the starter motor was on the backside of the flywheel which it isn't or you are running your motor backward and put the ring gear and differential in backwards.

Right hand drive uses the same starter and location as left hand drive.

Could any of these fit a Model A? Does a Model A starter turn the same direction as a Model T starter? You can tell I know nothing about Model A's.

If memory serves me, the model a starter turns the same as the t starter but the bendix is on the starter side of the flywheel requiring the bendix to spin the opposite direction as a model t bendix. Bendix spring is also wound opposite to a model t spring.

These two might be Chevrolet. What size is the shaft hole thru them and tooth count?

What size starter shaft do your unknown starter drives take ? The early 1928 model A Ford Abel starter shaft is 1/2". The common Model A starter shaft is 5/8" from mid 1928 to 1931. Model A starter drives turn opposite direction from Model T drives. If it turns out that you have the early 1928 Abel starter drives, congratulations, they are hard to come buy and sought out by early Model A restorers. From the pictures I can't be 100% sure the 2 unknowns are Model A, there are other cars that used similar drives but if they take a 1/2" shaft they got to be early 1928 A, not one of Fords better ideas when coupled to a dry multi disk clutch.

I am pretty sure the one one the right in the photo I reposted is Model A. The two on top not sure.

Sorry for taking so long to answer some of your questions. Hopefully you will be able to read my printing: The rows are:
1. Size of end at top of picture. The 2 at the right fit into the snout of a T starter. The measurements are the diameter and length of the top end of the bendix.
2. Number of teeth on the drive gear.
3. Diameter of starter shaft center hole.
4. Direction of Rotation from front of Model T

I forgot to write this down, but either #3 or 4 had the same patent number and dates as # 6 & 7.

Does this help in identifying what these fit?
