Tool is this for fastners on the tops or something else

At 1st I thought this was a riveting tool then a punch but the bottom piece is spring loaded and moves a friend says it might be for putting fastners on upholstery or tops any ideas? Bob

It is a riveting tool. Use mostly in the harness trade to set hollow end rivets but can be used to set band rivets and with modified anvils brake rivets.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas! :shock:

Mainly for riveting leather as Mark Gregush says but can be used with some other applications.

Rex Riveters are very common - I see them on a regular basis at estate sales, antique shops and swap meets. You can still purchase brand new Rex Riveters.
