APCO Shimmy Stops are typically the cause of terrible wear on tie-rod bushings and tie-rod bolts. The moment you think you need them to fix some sort of percieved ill and install them, they go to work wrecking things. This thread mentions them and the masking of wear (and wear they cause)...

They fix things like a tetanus soaked bandaid protects a cut.
I would advise leaving them as a display item.

Scott is correct, a version of those were on my car when I got it and they were wearing a groove in the tie rod. I rebuilt the front end properly and there is no rattling. They are not needed
