I am looking for guidance on using 20" AA rims on TT wheels. I have been told it is OK to remove the center from an AA rear rim and use the rim for TT. Aside from the fact that it ruins an AA rim that someone may need,

IS IT SAFE TO USE THIS RIM ON A TT 20" WHEEL?

Don’t know the answer to that Tom but I remember that the late and great John Danuser said later 20” Budd wheels can be used on the TT. Many rivets holding the center mounting steel need to be removed and that section scrapped leaving only the 1 piece rim part to be affixed to the wood spokes 20” TT wheel. I have 3 of these if anybody needs 20” rims....

An easier mounting option would be a 1929-30 Chevy disc wheel! Just saying.

Tom, I think that you'll find that the inside edge of an AA rim (where the rim seats on the wheel) has a sharper corner that a TT rim. This prevents it from going on the wheel the whole way. I had a nice AA rim that I was going to use on my TT until I found this problem. I don't know how many AA rim variations there were though so you may want to check this out before cutting the centers.

I have seen a few doodle bugs with TT rear ends and Daytons with clips welded in to bolt to.If only to me it seems a waste to cut up double A rims when cheap Daytons will work. Bud.
