ADJ MAIN JET SET

Post by StanHowe » Mon Nov 04, 2019 2:37 pm

These turned out so pretty I thought I'd post a photo.

Are are a set of adjustable main jets for Zenith JP5A carbs. This is about the 4th version of the design, they all work but I have been trying to make them smaller and less obtrusive.

Going to England for a new speedster build.

ZOOM ZOOM!!!!

As you can tell, photography is not my long suit. They are laying on a blue paper shop towel for a background.

I finally broke down and spent $100 for a set of 18 MM dies so I can make the caps and not have to modify old ones which are almost always whacked and rounded off and ugly. The next design will also be slightly different.
The bigger ones like this are pretty easy, the smaller they are the more fiddly they are to make.

I just went out to the shop and put them on a red background and took another shot. Same jets, different background. Look better.

Stan

that is really nice work, and nice to see the inovation involved in this setup...KUDOs to you!

Some guy in England is a very lucky fellow, and no doubt very appreciative of your handi-work.

Most folks don't realize the cost to even tool up for custom jobs, much less the labor involved...I just had to buy some taps/dies that were sourced (unfortunately) from a place that I won't even name (and they took forever to show up...but at least they DID).

Stan,

Those look fantastic. You could have photographed them in mud and they would still look fantastic.
I wish I was as talented as you

Thanks guys.
Bought a little lathe about 50 years ago and have been trying to learn to run it ever since.
I'm slow, slow, slow and do better on little things like this than I do on bigger things.
I still find it interesting to figure out how to make things work and then make them.

Thanks for the nice comments. Lost a couple days in the shop this week to other committments but got a couple carbs done and in the mail including an S4BF Zenith. It's been ready to go for awhile, just needing the adjustable main jet set up so while I was working on the larger ones I made six small ones for the T sized Zeniths.
