November 11th (originally Armistice Day) commemorates the end of World War I, when the guns fell silent at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918. In the U.S. it is now observed as Veterans Day, which honors all who served in the Armed Forces. In the Commonwealth countries, it is Remembrance Day, in memory of those who gave their lives serving in the Armed Forces. In both cases, it honors those who served their country.

Since my Model T isn't running right now, I will be riding with a fellow club member in his '27 Roadster in the Veterans Day Parade.

As Dick stated we in Canada remember our fallen heroes on November 11th. It is a national holiday with the exception of a couple of provinces.
We wear red poppies to commemorate those who served or those who fell in the service of their country. Almost every centre, small and large, has a Remembrance Day ceremony at 11:00 Monday. Lest we forget..............

Here is a trailer to the movie Passchendaele. It is a 2008 movie shot locally. A number of our local Model T club members participated the making of this movie. I had two of my T's in it. The T's show up at the beginning of this trailer.
Half a million soldiers died in this Belgian village battle including 16 thousand Canadians. Canada's population was 8 million with over half a million in uniform at the time.

Harry, all my ancestors on my father's side were born in Canada, including my father. My Canadian military credential was my great-uncle, my grandmother's younger brother, who died in April 1917 at Vimy Ridge and who is buried at a Commonwealth military cemetery in northern France. The family was from Ontario, but Uncle Miller was living in Saskatchewan when he enlisted.
